In one of its annual corporate social investment initiatives, Tarsus Technologies has handed cheques for R20 000 each to the Salvation Army and Cotlands.
This contribution began six years ago with Tarsus diversifying its social responsibility initiatives to include donations to charity organisations.
In addition, the company has encouraged staff to get involved in worthy causes through, among other things, donation of toys, food parcels and clothing.
"It is organisations like the Salvation Army and Cotlands that remind us of the many social development challenges that still exist today. The fact that charity organisations like these, that play such a vital role in our society, depend on donations for survival is reason enough for everyone to make a commitment to support them and ensure their continued survival," says Guy Whitcroft, CEO of Tarsus Technologies.
Cotlands endeavours to give orphans a safe, loving and caring place of safety until they are reunited with extended family members or are placed back into the community through adoption or foster care.
Alison Gallo, corporate manager at Cotlands, welcomed the donation, saying: "It`s heartening to note that there are corporate entities such as Tarsus who are still concerned about the plight of less fortunate South Africans. We are delighted to receive the donation as each penny goes a long way in assisting Cotlands to achieve its mission."
"The commitment shown by Tarsus over the years is encouraging and admirable. Without this sort of support it is virtually impossible to continue helping those in need," says Major Keith Conrad, community relations and development secretary at the Salvation Army.
Among others, the Salvation Army provides care for abused, abandoned and neglected children, the elderly, homeless people as well as those who are affected by AIDS and HIV.
