TAS Software SA (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of TAS Software plc - the UK`s second largest high volume supplier of accounting software for small office, home office (SOHO) and small to medium-sized (SME) businesses - has announced the release of TAS Book-Keeper.
TAS Book-Keeper is a fully integrated accounting system that has been designed specifically for users with little or no accounting knowledge, and is targeted at SOHO businesses.
John Antunes, director of TAS Software SA, says that the technology and ease-of-use of TAS Book-Keeper will save proprietors of SOHO businesses many hours of tedious and repetitive accounting work. He says that many SOHO business owners are still doing their books by hand or on a spreadsheet because they haven`t found an accounting software package that provides them with the right solution that is simple enough to use.
"TAS Book-Keeper has been designed specifically to meet the needs of SOHO business owners who do not have the time, accounting experience or inclination to get to grips with complicated accounting packages," says Antunes.
TAS Book-Keeper`s ease-of-use allows the SOHO business owners to deal directly with all aspects of their accounts, customers, suppliers, VAT, cash book and bank reconciliation and to then present their accountants with a neat set of accounts. This frees accountants to spend more time working in a consultative role and less time trawling through a `shoe box` of paper.
TAS Book-Keeper is also the only small business accounting software package currently on the market that actually includes a built-in and fully functional replica of the South African VAT 201 form. Users can simply view the form on screen, or print it out, and then use the figures to complete their VAT 201 form and submit it to SARS. The program also includes a full VAT audit trail which gives the user access to all the VAT related transactions and calculations, enabling them to see how TAS Book-Keeper actually arrived at the totals displayed on the VAT 201 form.
"As with all the TAS software products released locally, TAS Book-Keeper caters fully for all the South African tax and VAT regulations, but what we`ve done with the VAT 201 form really makes the program remarkably easy to use", says Antunes.
TAS Book-Keeper also includes the company`s ground-breaking SoftYear* and Account Processor * technology, which allows users to retrieve posted transactions (which includes postings in a previous year) and then edit, correct, and re-update them without having to post any reversing or correcting journals. This feature is further enhanced by the fact that TAS Book-Keeper tracks all changes and automatically writes them into a full audit trail file, thereby keeping a complete record of the date, time and nature of the changes.
"These unique features offer the business owner and the accountant the best of both worlds. On the one hand, the business owner can easily correct mistakes without having to know anything about debits or credits, thus ensuring that the accounts are 100% correct. And on the other hand, the accountants can instantly see which transactions have been changed and verify that the changes accurately reflect the source documents".
TAS Book-Keeper also includes a Reminders and To Do Notes feature that ensures users run a more efficient business. These automatically display, in date order, a summary or a detailed list of payments that need to be made, receipts that are due or overdue, as well as general reminders and tasks that need to be carried out on a specified date.
"Using the To Do Notes feature, users can add and delete items on their list and create their own specific list of daily, weekly, monthly or annual reminders."
All TAS products include an unconditional 60-day money back guarantee as well as 90 days free telephone support. TAS also has a complete range of products that are suitable for most small to medium-sized businesses and incorporates a full upgrade path throughout the entire range.
TAS Book-Keeper is available now and retails for R799 incl. VAT. The product is supplied with a `Quick Start` Guide, a One-day Tutorial, as well as a detailed Reference Manual. In addition comprehensive on-line help and various wizards also contribute in order to get the SOHO user up and running quickly.
"TAS Book-Keeper`s aggressive pricing, ease-of-use and rich feature set mean that there is now a real alternative accounting software solution for SOHO business owners", concluded Antunes.
