Technicare, TCM and Zervos merge: Spicer Specialised Service launced

Sas du Toit , CEO of

Spicer Holdings

announced today that the three companies that have made up its Specialised Services Division, namely

Zervos

,

Technicare

and

TCM Business Systems

, will be joining forces to create the largest desktop and LAN support company in South Africa. Du Toit, elaborating on the merger, said: "We`re doing this specifically to ensure that the synergies between the companies becomes reality, and to enable us to give our customers access to better service."

Commenting on the decision, Spicer Specialised Services MD, Piet Van Rensburg said: "By combining the strengths of three of South Africa`s top IT service and maintenance companies, we are positioning ourselves in South Africa as the leader in our field of expertise. The merger enables us to strengthen our Southern African network. We now have 28 branches across Southern Africa, with over 600 skilled IT employees who will focus purely on providing a superlative service."

Van Rensburg adds: "We have the cream of the customer base, and we plan to deliver first-rate services to our customers. In addition, we also have a first-rate management team of young professionals to make the company perform. This is a young man`s company. I would like to see this organisation driven into the future with radical thinking and a break-away from the old paradigms."

Spicer Specialised Services shall be refocusing its desktop and LAN support services on the medium to large corporations, parastatal organisations and government departments in mainly the retail, financial and mining sectors. The company will deal only with select original equipment distributors and customers, and particular SMME alliances.

Explaining the rationale behind the refocus, Van Rensburg says: "Apart from the merger making business sense for the Group, our aim was to move away from providing certain limited services within the separate companies towards out-tasking or a master vendor environment in the new company.

"Our consolidated infrastructure and extensive knowledge base will allow us to offer highly cost-effective services and pace-setting service solutions. We will focus on providing total solutions, and service offerings tailored exactly to customer specifications."

Johann Kunz, the newly appointed Director: Operations for Specialised Services says, "The decision to refocus the customer base is in line with Spicer Specialised Services` mission of providing added value to our customers."

Spicer Specialised Services has a customer base that includes SANLAM, the Department of Labour, Telkom, Santam, SAA, Liberty Life, Standard Bank, FNB, ABSA, Pep Stores, the Retail Apparel Group and the South African Revenue Services to name a few.

"With our strong presence in the corporate market, Spicer Specialised Services is well equipped to achieve our predicted organic growth of 40% (excluding any future acquisitions), " Kunz concludes.

Van Rensburg is adamant that the customers as well as the staff will enjoy the advantages of the merger. "I am committed to facilitating the merger process from the customer`s point of view. I want this process to be totally transparent and of maximum benefit to the customer and am making every effort to ensure that the merger process is transparent and beneficial to the people who are looking after our customers, namely all our staff."
