Tecovation, part of Bothongo Group Commercial, has been appointed as the regional reseller for Kounta in southern Africa.
This was revealed by Des Parker, CEO of Tecovation, who added: "Retail and hospitality businesses can get a quick start in the cloud with Kounta's new POS [point of sale]-in-a-box. Kounta has launched a POS starter package for hospitality, food and beverage, and retail businesses, which will prove to be an essential tool in their businesses," says Parker.
In a statement, the companies say Kounta, a cloud-based mobile POS system, takes the payment system evolution beyond the counter. Kounta recently said it can even take the sales relationship home with the customer, via a partnership with PayPal Mobile and online ordering application Beat the Q.
"I realised that the technology available wasn't able to provide the type of service that customers needed to have in today's online and connected world," says Nick Cloete, founder of Kounta in Australia. "We wanted to create interaction between merchants and customers, rather than just a transaction at the counter. It's about relationships, not just selling people things," Cloete continued.
"As it's cloud-based, it employs the same technologies used for mobile payments, loyalty and customer management, e-commerce and cloud accounting. This is an outstanding product suite for retailers, small shop owners and restaurants - it is cloud with resilience and so easy to use; it is really POS in a box," Parker says.
The main benefit of using Kounta is that it can run on existing hardware, such as an iPad, Android tablet, laptop or PC, the company notes. It re-iterates that, while the application is cloud-based, it does have offline transaction capabilities, so the business can keep running even if the Internet is not available.
Tecovation and Kounta are offering a free, 30-day trial, and Tecovation will also assist new customers with the appropriate hardware to run Kounta.
