Telekenex intros Hosted Lite

Business-grade IP service provider Telekenex has introduced Hosted VOIP Lite, reports Phone Plus.

This allows Telekenex to expand its offerings to small, multi-site business customers with a fully hosted and managed telecommunications platform at what the company says is a competitive pricing model.

Hosted VOIP Lite features four packages for businesses to customise the needs for each individual location. They range from Package One, with up to four IP phones with DSL, to Package Four, with up to 16 IP phones with T1. All packages come with access, fully managed equipments, and full PBX features.

Nortel signs Genband deal

Genband has acquired Nortel's Carrier VOIP and Application Solutions (CVAS) unit, states Fierce VOIP.

Nortel says it won't proceed to auction, and would instead work towards closing the sales agreement with Genband for the CVAS unit.

The deal is for all the global assets of Nortel's CVAS business for a purchase price of $282 million.

Samsung, Skype team up

Samsung has teamed up with Skype to offer video and voice calls through a range of its TV sets, says Thinq.

The LED 7000 and 8000 series flat screens will have the Skype software built in and is expected to be rolled out to the rest of the world in the second half of 2010.

Skype-to-Skype calls and video chats will be free but calls to traditional landlines and mobiles will incur charges.
