National least-cost routing (LCR) and communications solutions provider TelePassport has welcomed last week`s landmark High Court ruling in favour of LCR, and has doubled its Johannesburg premises following strong growth in 2003 and buoyant projections for the coming year.
MD Anton Potgieter reports that although the timing of the LCR victory is opportune, TelePassport`s Johannesburg expansion was embarked upon before this was announced.
"The company has been delighted with the Johannesburg region`s recent performances, and with several key deals closed in the last few months, we are looking forward to a bumper year in 2004. While we were confident of the outcome of the court case, the speedy decision reached by the court has just added the cherry on the top of a very good year."
The new premises will double TelePassport`s existing office space in Hampton Park, Bryanston. Earlier this year the company purchased offices in Kenilworth to house its development and administration centre and Cape regional office.
Potgieter comments further that although legal wrangles have cast a shadow over the LCR industry for the past few years to the extent where they have almost become expected, the ruling and consequent "legitimisation" of LCR will move the South African telecommunications industry into a higher gear, and will have far-reaching economic benefits.
He enthuses about the future of South African telecommunications: "TelePassport has paid its dues in the LCR market since 1993, making it SA`s longest standing LCR provider - so this is like reaching the light at the end of a very long tunnel. Competition can only help the consumer, and promote development and growth of new technologies and services. Third-party telecommunications developments and value-added products are huge overseas, creating countless jobs and fuelling economic progress. We see it every year in our R&D trips abroad, and we can`t wait to see it happen here - the beginnings of this wave can already be seen in the market."
TelePassport is a Proudly South African communications solutions provider, and provides full-service turnkey LCR solutions, value-added communications budget management and SMS solutions. The company has regional offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, and dealers throughout SA.
