Telkom and 3Com today launched LAN PBX, a revolutionary product which converges voice and data on a single network by combining Private Branch Exchange (PBX) functionality on the Local Area Network (LAN), offering Telkom`s business customers significant savings and the advantages of the best available technology.
LAN PBX is the first offering of the fledgling partnership between Telkom and 3Com, which was launched on 1 June specifically to provide South African businesses with solutions that will enable improved efficiencies, customer relations and integrated call center technology.
"LAN PBX integrates a customer`s PBX onto his LAN Ethernet. Telkom business customers benefit directly from this advanced technology, with significant savings associated with operating multiple functions from a single infrastructure," says Dan Winters, Telkom`s Product Development Executive.
"LAN PBX demonstrates Telkom`s ability to cater for all the communications needs of business customers. With features like complex call handling, call centre functions, integrated voice mail, computer telephony integration (CTI), local and wide area networking, Internet connectivity and more, these customers can now play ball against the best in their field," says Winters.
CTI places the user on the forefront of information since the telephone link can be connected to a computer application. One example of how this could benefit a company, is the automatic display of customer information on the company computer when a specific customer phones in.
LAN PBX can be ordered from any Telkom Business Sales Representative. LAN PBX customers will experience quick and efficient maintenance and ongoing support from Telkom`s national IT support specialists.
Telkom`s LAN PBX provides a "today" solution to current and future communication needs. With this, South African business will be in step, and even ahead of, their global competitors.
