SA's dominant fixed-line operator, Telkom, has finally appointed a permanent CFO, who will step into the position a year after Peter Nelson abruptly left the company.
Nelson's resignation came shortly after the company announced CEO Reuben September would leave with immediate effect. September's replacement, Jeffrey Hedberg, left the company in March after holding an acting position.
Analysts said at the time of Nombulelo “Pinky” Moholi's appointment as CEO in March, that one of the tasks she would have to tackle quickly would be to fill the CFO position.
Schindehutte was previously Absa Group's FD, a position he held for five years until March last year, but stayed on with the company until September. During his time at the bank, he was involved in it being bought by UK-based Barclays.
Before joining Absa, Schindehutte was employed by Transnet in a number of senior roles for about 14 years.
Schindehutte is a non-executive director of furniture retailer JD Group and publishing house Avusa. He is a chartered accountant and also has a BComm (Hons) and higher diploma in taxation.
Telkom's board thanked Fredericks for “his valuable contribution during the acting period,” but did not indicate his new position.
