Telkom Mobile has announced the arrival of BlackBerry's new hybrid smartphone, the Q10, making it the fourth and last operator to stock the device.
This comes over a month after SA's first mobile operator Vodacom started offering the phone, which is BlackBerry's second flagship device since it officially launched its new generation 10OS platform earlier this year.
The BlackBerry Q10 is available from Telkom Mobile via Telkom Direct, Telkom Express and 8ta stores as of today on three of the operator's smartphone contracts.
For R399 per month - on a 24-month contract - customers can get the Q10 on Telkom's SmartPlan 50, which includes 50 talk minutes, 300MB of data, unlimited on-net calls for the first year, and an SMS plan whereby customers get 50 free SMSes when they send five.
The SmartPlan 100, for R449 per month, includes 100 minutes, 1GB of data, and the same SMS and on-net call offerings as Telkom's entry level Q10 package.
Finally, customers can get the phone with Telkom's Unlimited Voice package, for R1 599 per month. This allows the customer to make unlimited calls to SA cellular and fixed-line networks, on and off peak. It also includes 2GB of data.
The BlackBerry Q10 is the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone to feature a classic BlackBerry qwerty keyboard. It also features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
The display comes in at 3.1-inches and features an Amoled touch-screen with 720x720 pixel resolution.
