From today, Telkom home and small business customers will be able to test the operator's fixed-line broadband in a free three-month trial.
According to Telkom, the offer comes “with no strings attached” and is not conditional to any contract subscriptions pre or post the trial period.
“Available from 18 July and valid until 15 September, residential customers and small to medium businesses will be granted free subscription to Telkom's Fast Internet with up to 1 024kbps ADSL access for three consecutive months,” says Telkom.
Customers do not have to sign a contract. “This is a no commitment promotion as we would simply like to demonstrate the quality of our broadband experience,” says Telkom senior managing executive Manelisa Mavuso.
Those wanting to retain the service after the trial period will pay R395 for the broadband bundle on a month-to-month basis, “with the option to opt out at any stage without risk of penalties levied”, says Telkom. “They also have an option to downgrade or upgrade after the trial.”
Included in the offer are landline and DSL installations, modem, 3GB e-mail account and access to Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, all free of charge.
“Over the three-month trial period, customers will receive 5GB of blended data per month to surf locally and internationally hosted Web sites,” says Telkom, adding that once the blended data has been depleted, customers have an additional 20GB of local data to surf locally hosted sites.
During the three-month trial, customers will be liable for the cost of their Telkom landline rental, call charges and out-of-bundle data costs.
“We are confident that customers will enjoy the speed and quality of fast fixed-line broadband,” says Mavuso.
