Telkom has introduced RingBack, a service that automatically calls the user back once the number they are trying to reach is free.
Telkom says that if the user gets an engaged tone, they can press R*62#, and when the engaged line is free, the user`s phone will ring to alert that the number is free. As soon as the user picks up the phone, the called number will be dialled. The "R" button is on most telephone instruments marked as "redial".
Once activated, RingBack will monitor the line for 30 minutes, after which it is automatically cancelled.
RingBack can be used from any Telkom fixed-line to fixed-line, locally and nationally. It is not available to Prepaidfone subscribers.
