Telkom operations converge with NBSC

Johannesburg, 20 Jun 2003

Telkom has officially opened its National Business Solutions Centre (NBSC), which is designed to bring together the organisation`s expertise in communications convergence.

The completion of this hi-tech communications hub in Centurion, near Pretoria, is expected to "close the loop", by complementing the company`s existing Centre and its National Operations Centre.

The NBSC will house Telkom`s data and special services operations, network service management, IT external services and Internet service provisioning operations.

Also in the new complex will be Telkom`s Application Solution Centre, global and corporate marketing and sales, as well as its business integration services, business solutions and programme management.

Telkom`s chief sales and marketing officer, Nombulelo Moholi, says the new facility will enhance the company`s ability to offer state-of-the-art communications solutions for the business and corporate world.

"In the super-fast developing world of information and communications technology, it is crucial to be at the forefront," says Moholi.

"I believe this new facility will enable us to live up to our service delivery promises and will yet again demonstrate that Telkom is the leading integrated communications company in the country and that we can compete with the best in the world."

The NBSC has been built between the National Network Operations Centre and the Data Centre, providing Telkom with a centralised and expanded IT backbone, an energy farm and an additional server farm, call centre facilities as well as four floors of office space.
