Temenos secures Deutsche Bank contract

International investment bank Deutsche Bank has acquired the Globus integrated banking software solution suite from Swiss-headquartered Temenos, which is 20 percent owned by South African-based JSE-listed Global Technology.

Deutsche Bank Private Banking in Madrid, Spain, is the first implementation site using Temenos` Globus Implementation Centre (GIC) in Heathrow, in terms of the deal clinched in February, 2001. Temenos` GIC is based on the successful implementation methodology pioneered by Global Technology`s GIC in Johannesburg.

"Deutsche is basing its approach to Globus on a successful implementation, with pre-defined objectives and milestones," says Global Technology CEO, Ray Leonard.

"Temenos intends to extend the use of Globus in two ways; to other private banking entities across the world, as well as into other Deutsche business lines, such as core and retail".

"The fact that Temenos is operating with the most senior executives in the company worldwide means it is gaining and driving rapid acceptance," Leonard continues. Temenos expects several other companies in the Deutsche group to migrate to Globus based on the initial success in Madrid.

The successful deal follows on Temenos signing an agreement with the Bank of England at the beginning of this year and the announcement of $150 million worth of new licences in 2000.

Globus is an integrated, modular international banking system with full functionality, including retail and wholesale banking, trade finance, and treasury modules. It supports multi-company and multi-bank environments incorporating multi-currency and multilingual capabilities. Globus also contains robust risk management and security while allowing institutions to have complete control over their financial systems.

Global Technology provides software and services to the financial community in Africa and Australia.
