First National Bank (FNB) today confirmed that 10 million eBucks have been donated to the FNB Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund set up to help those affected by the tsunami.
In line with the generous donations that have been made by customers and staff, FNB has also pledged R1 million to the fund. This brings the total of the fund to R3 465 898.24 as at 11 January 2005, exceeding the initial target of R3 million.
FNB today pledged R3 297 159.37 of the funds that have been gathered to the Tsunami Disaster Fund SA, which is an SABC and Welcome Msomi Gateway initiative.
The funds pledged by FNB to The Tsunami Disaster Fund SA will be channelled through the Red Cross, the United Nations and other official aid organisations. Attorneys Webber Wentzel Bowens are currently handling the administration of the Tsunami Disaster Fund SA along with reputable audit firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, to ensure the funds are appropriately distributed.
Michael Jordaan, CEO of FNB, thanked customers and staff for their goodwill and generous support.

Through the significant amount of money we have collected we have the power to make a difference in victims` lives. Donating eBucks has proved to be a popular means of contribution. Since the launch of the fund, the eBucks Hotline has received a record number of daily calls. In one day alone over 1 300 eBucks donations were made.
