We all know how things usually go when it comes to a team that just formed. The members are timorous, they don’t talk too much, and they sometimes even avoid each other. That’s why it’s up to the team leader to get the members connected and make them feel comfortable while they’re working together.
You can play team-building games even in an office, and we’re here to recommend you some of them gladly:
Truth and lie
Tell each of your team members to write three true sentences and a lie on a piece of paper. The lie has to be something hard to guess, not a phrase like ‘I was the President of the USA’. Other team members will have to guess which phrase is the lie, and the whole game will get those people to know each other a lot better.
Scavenger Hunt
Make a list of items that you’ve hidden throughout the office, and get your team to search for them and bring them back. The person who gets back first with the most items wins. For an extra challenge, you can even set a time limit for this one.
Find The Common Thread
Make groups of people from your team. Each group has to find out one commonality among the members. Once they find that commonality, they’ll have to create a list of stereotypical qualities of the particular trait. The next step will be to say if each of them can be described by the stereotypes or not.
The mime game
Without speaking, a member of your team has to use his whole body to describe something, anything. The other members have to try to guess what their colleague is describing. The person that guesses wins, and he or she will be the next who starts to mime.
What’s my name?
Perhaps everyone wanted to be somebody else, and this game offers them that chance. Each team member will have a name of a famous person or a job written on the back without knowing who or what is it. The team members have to treat each other according to what the other person has written on the back. After a series of questions and role-play, the members have to guess what personality or profession they have on their backs.
Winner/Loser
One team member has to talk to another about a negative and true experience. The same experience has to be shared once again, but by focusing on the positive aspects. The two fellows will have to switch places.
The Perfect Square
All the team members have to stay in a circle and hold a piece of rope. Everyone will have to be blindfolded and let go of the rope. Everyone will have to try making a square with the rope without removing the blindfolds. You can also set a time limit here to make the game more challenging.
Karaoke
Music is one of the strongest things that bring people together. Getting your team members to sing their favourite songs is a great way of creating a fun atmosphere in the group, although some of them could be really bad at singing. There are more fun games to play such as Friday Night Funkin’ which is available to play on Crazy Games and Poki.
Follow the Leader
One person from the group will have to leave the room for a short time. While he’s gone, the group will have to select one person to be the leader. The leader will have to make movements for the followers to mimic. When the person who left comes back into the room, he or she will try to discover who’s the leader by watching the movements of the group.
Under 18
Who didn’t like to be young? This game will simply get the members of your team to talk about their greatest achievements before they turned 18.
People become a lot more productive when they feel comfortable together. Although some team-building games may seem awkward, they all have the goal of getting members to know each other better and automatically become more productive once they switch to the hard stuff.
