Magix Integration has been appointed as Commercial Channel Partner for Tenable Network Security (TNS) in southern Africa. TNS provides a suite of solutions that offer real-time vulnerability, event and compliance monitoring in a single interface, simplifying the management of corporate IT infrastructures.
“There is a significant and growing opportunity among our customer base, and in large South African companies in general, for solutions to assist in the monitoring and auditing of their IT infrastructure,” says Hedley Hurwitz, MD of Magix Integration.
“Also, the advent of King III and the growing complexity of compliance requirements puts an unprecedented amount of pressure on information security management to demonstrate compliance and protect the business from risk. Companies can no longer achieve compliance through a cycle of last-minute heroics to generate proof of controls for auditors. The only practical approach is to adopt automated monitoring for technical and regulatory compliance. With TNS, administrators, auditors and risk managers are able to evaluate, communicate and report on the areas under scrutiny in real-time, assisting in effective decision-making and systems management.”
The TNS suite consists of three primary solutions:
* Compliance Reporting empowers companies to monitor adherence to a wide variety of compliance requirements.
* The Security Monitoring architecture helps organisations monitor a variety of network devices and catch abuse and/or potential abuse.
* The IT Auditing solution audits different types of IT functions and performance according to accepted international standards.
Activity monitoring and configuration of all TNS solutions is managed by the SecurityCenter, an enterprise-class management console that provides continuous, asset-based security and compliance monitoring. It unifies the process of asset discovery, vulnerability detection, data leakage prevention and detection, event management and configuration auditing.
TNS Passive Vulnerability Scanner (PVS) provides a simple to deploy, agent-less solution for performing its information gathering. PVS is a network monitoring technology that provides vulnerability data to SecurityCenter and real-time event data to the Log Correlation Engine (LCE).
The PVS passively determines client and server applications for each host on your network, including their vulnerabilities. The PVS also logs Web browsing, file sharing and database activity to aid in incident response and user monitoring. The Log Correlation Engine aggregates, normalises, correlates and analyses event log data from the myriad devices within the corporate infrastructure.
TNS Nessus Vulnerability Scanning engine offers high-speed discovery, configuration auditing, asset profiling, sensitive data discovery and vulnerability analysis of an organisation's security posture. When managed by SecurityCenter, Nessus scanners can be distributed throughout an enterprise, inside DMZs and across physically separate networks.
“We are convinced that in the infrastructure monitoring space, TNS offers a comprehensive suite of solutions to address all enterprise requirements,” says Hurwitz. “With over seven years' experience in the IT risk management and information security arena, Magix is ideally suited to provide the local skills necessary to support corporations in their risk analysis, implementation and maintenance of the TNS suite.”
