Tender Watch

It's a busy week in the National Tender Bulletin, with a wide variety of offerings from South Africa's public sector.

The State IT Agency (SITA) continues to snap up advertising space with three new tenders calling for broadband network services to government buildings and other facilities across the Western Cape; specialist implementation, support, training and deployment of Operational Support Information System in the SA Navy; and provision of organisational excellence and continuous improvement, presumably on a consulting basis. The organisation has also extended the closing date for the systems integrator partner list tender; cancelled the tenders for the provision of core transmission services; and provision of software development, support and maintenance services for the automated ballistic systems (ABIS) for the South African Police Service (SAPS). However, it has awarded the tender for a consultancy company to conduct SCAMPI assessment to DEMIX Business Development.

Meanwhile, the Department of Home Affairs and SAPS are encountering difficulties with their direct engagements of the ICT sector. The latter has cancelled its call for an "expert assistant software solution" for forensic DNA data analysis; however, it says the requirement will be re-advertised shortly. Home Affairs, on the other hand, has cancelled its tenders for supply, maintenance and support of its network routers and switches, as well as its notice for network points for the department, across all provinces.

Nevertheless, SITA can't afford to get smug, as the Department of Public Service and Administration, under which it falls, has opted not to use its services in the acquisition of an integrated dashboard system which it has procured from DAC Systems.

Perishable Products Export Control Board
The PPECB is soliciting interested and qualified IT service providers to develop, implement, maintain and support mobile applications for the following business processes:
