Tesco intros Web self-service

Enabling easy shopping for non-food and household items directly from mobile phones, Tesco introduced its mobile Web site, writes TMC Net.

With this release, the company takes a step further in expanding and developing mobile Web sites for core Tesco sites. With the help of new Tesco Direct mobile Web site, customers can look at product warranties, add products to the shopping basket, explore delivery options, book a delivery slot and get various other advantages.

Using any smartphone, Tesco Direct customers can now conveniently search and buy everything from televisions to tables to toys.

Online panel provider uSamp has unveiled an automated self-service platform that gives research agencies access to its panel of US respondents, says Research Life.

The new SampleMarket 2.0 service will be released in beta mode in December, a move that uSamp described as “the next step along an evolutionary path to fully automated delivery of market research samples”. uSamp said agencies signing up to the service will be able to create and manage online projects through the tool without “the need to pick up a phone or send an e- mail”.

The firm also plans to release a smartphone version of the system in the first quarter of 2011, allowing users to log in and check on the progress of projects through their phones.

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has signed an agreement with air transport IT specialist SITA for providing automation of passenger check-in process and passenger bag reconciliation, states Sify Finance.

The five-year agreement includes supply of common use self-service kiosks and more than 80 airport connect open workstations for check-in, boarding, load control and baggage areas.

CIAL has also introduced SITA's passenger bag reconciliation and message distribution solutions - Bag Manager and Bag Message - to ensure the right bag gets on the right aircraft.
