Testing SA's cloud outlook

While there is a lot of talk about the cloud, with several contradictory opinions on various aspects of cloud computing, it's important to find out how the end-user feels about the issue.

This is the view of Richard Sutherland, portfolio manager of dynamic infrastructure at Fujitsu, who says: “Cloud computing is one of the most substantially monitored trends in the information and communications technology (ICT) arena today.”

Fujitsu is conducting a cloud computing survey that intends to gauge the attitudes towards cloud computing in the local ICT environment. The survey aims to identify and establish the issues, concerns, and perceptions users have about cloud computing.

Sutherland says ICT has moved into the commodities mainstream. “In order to contribute significantly towards a competitive advantage, ICT needs to be efficient, effective and produce a measurable and positive return on investment.”

He adds it's essential to keep abreast of industry developments, so offerings meet the requirements of an increasingly demanding marketplace.

According to Sutherland, the survey findings will act as a guide in developing solutions that have meaning, context and direct application to businesses' needs.

By participating in the Fujitsu cloud computing survey, readers stand a chance to win a Fujitsu M2010 notebook.
