Business intelligence (BI) and analytics giant Yellowfin has been named a top-performing BI vendor in many key performance indicators (KPIs) in the world's largest study of BI end-users, 'The BI Survey 13'.
Thirty of the top BI products were examined in this latest survey, conducted by the Business Applications Research Center (BARC). Yellowfin scored top of nine of the study's crucial assessment KPIs, including: Innovation, cloud BI, mobile BI, user recommendation, project length, chosen as standard, proportion of employees, total performance and query performance.
Premie Naicker, Managing Director of Yellowfin South Africa, says the accolades highlight Yellowfin's innovative approach to BI. "This survey is the world's biggest and most respected study of BI users, and highlights our product's ability to stack up against the industry's most well-known BI products."
She adds that Yellowfin also ranked as a standout performer in many KPIs in the three Peer Groups - "Enterprise Reporting Vendor", "Dashboard Vendor" and "Ad-hoc Analysis Vendor" - in which it was categorised. In addition, the company came top for 11 KPIs within the Enterprise Reporting Vendor Peer Group, which contained 10 products, including Arcplan, Evidanza, IBM Cognos BI, Information Builders, Microsoft SSRS, MicroStrategy, Oracle BI Foundation Suite, SAP BO Web Intelligence, SAP BW and Yellowfin.
Yellowfin was also awarded top points for 10 KPIs within the Dashboard Vendor Peer Group, which contained 11 other well-known products. "Finally, Yellowfin ranked first for nine KPIs within the Ad-hoc Analysis Vendor Peer Group, which contained 19 of the industry's top products," Naicker points out.
She attributes much of Yellowfin's success to its ability to give customers excellent business benefits in the shortest time. "The ability for customers to achieve desired business benefits is ranked as one of the most important KPIs, and in this case, the customers have spoken," she says.
In reference to Yellowfin's performance in The BI Survey 13, Founder and CEO of BARC, Dr Carsten Bange, commented: "Yellowfin is clearly the leader in innovation, implementing new and differentiating developments in cloud, collaboration and Mobile BI earlier than many of its competitors."
"Moreover, Yellowfin is both simple to use and easy to deploy, ensuring quick business user independence, resulting in incredibly high penetration rates throughout client organisations," says Naicker. "Yellowfin's unsurpassed product innovations, combined with a modern look and feel, ensure that customer recommendation rates remain high. All in all, the survey shows that customers are extremely satisfied regarding product and query performance too, as well as vendor support."
The BI Survey is an annual global study of BI software users produced by BARC. A total of 3 149 respondents partook in The BI Survey 13.
