The Edge launches advanced-level IT Project Management Certification

Johannesburg, 20 Sep 2000

The Edge, a training company dedicated to high-level IT network training, has launched a new certification programme - IT Project Management, designed to meet the market`s increased need for IT professionals with strong ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) project management skills.

Successful IT organizations are developing project management competency centres to improve the success rate and return on investment of key initiatives. Success as a project manager depends on one`s ability to define, plan, organize, control and complete a variety of activities comprising complex and interdependent tasks which are supported by the same set of limited resources. This course covers the development of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully manage information technology projects. The course will emphasise activities designed to familiarize the learner with the three major domains necessary for successful project management: business knowledge, interpersonal and project management methods and processes.

The IT Project Management Certification is aimed at IT professionals with project experience in one or more of the following fields:

  • Systems Analysis

  • Systems Integration

  • Application Development

  • Network Technology

  • Information Security

  • Technical Architecture

  • Asset Management

  • Vendor Management

  • Database Technologies

  • Technology Planning

This course introduces core project management practices, which can be applied in the Gartner Institue Core IT Project Management Certification test, available at any Sylvan Prometric Testing Centre.

This is a 5 day course. Prerequisites - previous experience in managing IT projects. The first course will be held at our Rivonia offices on the 20th - 24th November. Cost R8750.00 for the 5 day course. 10% Discount for early registration (2 October 2000).
