NSS Consulting division has devised a new workshop program for 2003. Not only will it look at IT governance and best practices but will introduce candidates to "how to apply" their new found knowledge. These workshops will provide individuals, who have been trained, on a best practice such as ITIL an insight on "how" to implement this expertise practically.
According to Alan Kirsten at NSS Consulting Division: "Too often in IT service management training the what (knowledge) is delivered while the how (application) is not. The problem with this is that now organisations know all about IT service management but have no idea on how to implement it. This renders the new knowledge, to exactly that, knowledge, leaving the organisation to wonder why all this investment was made on training in the first place.
NSS hopes to remedy this by offering regular workshops to companies wishing to gain the practical approach in "how to apply" what has been taught. "The alternative is that much of the investment organizations are making in IT service management and process improvement will be lost," said Kirsten.
