The technology partnership announced recently in the US between Enterasys Networks and Spectralink Corporation, a leading manufacturer and provider of wireless telephone systems, will enable Enterasys to support both voice and data in its wireless LAN offerings.
Martin May, regional director or Enterasys Networks SA, says the partnership will result in simultaneous support for voice and data, and enable enterprise customers to maximise the value of their wireless LAN investments.
"Enterasys will incorporate Spectralink technology in its RoamAbout branded solutions," says May. These include standards-based wireless LAN and network-to-network bridging functionality for both indoor and outdoor environments, including radio cards, a versatile access point, and a variety of antenna options.
Enterasys says the RoamAbout AP 2000 will support SpectraLink Voice Priority (SVP) to support SpectraLink`s NetLink Wireless Telephone System (NetLink WTS).
SpectraLink`s NetLink WTS product is based on its SpectraLink Voice Priority (SVP) technology, and is fully compatible with the IEEE 802.11b standard for data transmission used by RoamAbout. SVP prioritises voice IP packets with minimal impact on throughput for data services, and helps deliver high voice quality on converged wireless networks.
