The Notebook Company moves into the Apple market

Johannesburg, 23 Oct 2001

Notebook and accessories retailer, The Notebook Company (www.notebook.co.za), is moving into the Apple Macintosh market space with the announcement that it is to sell the Apple i-Book and Apple PowerBook.

The company also states that it will match, or better, any price offered on these products in SA.

This is according to Christopher Riley, general manager of The Notebook Company, who said it is the company`s policy to "match or better any price on any notebook we sell".

He said the company is adding the Apple notebook range to its product line-up as an additional service to its client base as the Apple brand is growing in popularity.

"We don`t expect sales of the i-Book or PowerBook to seriously increase revenue as sales volumes are still generally low in this country. It`s just a market we think we should now have a presence in as demand is increasing slowly. In the future, however, we may see some growth that will affect our bottom line. We are also looking at renting out Apple notebooks as rentals now make up 40% of our gross profit," he said.

The Notebook Company supplies a wide range of laptops, including Asus, Toshiba, IBM, Compaq, HP and Mecer.
