This Wednesday will see the official launch of Mthombo IT (M-IT), a fully-fledged information technology services company, focusing on high-end services with a Black Economic Empowerment flavour.

The company, which has been in operation for the past three months, says its strategic intent is to be the leading service provider that delivers quality IT service to corporates and the public sector.

The company`s CEO, Nkosinathi Khumalo, says that part of the company`s success is to stay focused on its chosen niche in the IT services area.

"M-IT believes in empowering its employees to make decisions, to be held accountable for those decisions and be rewarded for their success through performance-based incentives," he adds.

He explains that real-time technology has shortened the length of time it takes to perform tasks such as accessing information or taking action. In line with the demands of the global business environment, local companies need to apply the technology that will enable them to leverage and monitor their competitive advantage.

Management at M-IT has accepted the fact that the strength of the company lies in the intellectual capital of its people. As a team of highly qualified professionals, it is committed to forging long-term relationships with clients by providing them with the support and expertise to maintain, grow and derive the maximum benefit from their IT systems.

The company also intends to be SA`s premier information technology service provider, through its ability to combine IT and financial skills to deliver value-added, effective service that reduces clients` total cost of ownership.

Apparently, the company is currently handling the servicing of the entire Hewlett-Packard Gauteng netservers.

The company which sold 40% of its shares to R100m private equity fund Protocol Venture Capital, believes that teamwork is an essential component of its business and also values the shared ideas and innovative solutions that are generated by collaboration.

The company, like a lot of others in the same sphere, is driven by a spirit of entrepreneurship, whereby its staff have an equity share in the company.

"M-IT`s performance-based incentive and profit-sharing schemes plays a pivotal role in its performance, and its collective endeavours have created an environment of guaranteed growth for all our stakeholders," adds Khumalo.

When it comes to dealing with large corporations, it aims to be the preferred service provider of its strategic alliance partners like Compaq and Hewlett-Packard and is in the process of including IBM on the list.
