It is with great sadness that Vodacom has learned of the passing of Mr Monde Mama, Managing Executive of Corporate Social Responsibility at Vodacom Group, early on Thursday morning.
Alan Knott-Craig, Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Group, said yesterday: "I have known and dealt with Monde personally over the years. Monde personified all the goodness and caring that I admire so much in people. His gentleness and his dedication to humanity were qualities which all of us should strive for.
"He touched so many lives, and every life he touched was the better for his touch.
"We will miss him and will always remember this giant of a man. And I know that all his colleagues and friends will feel the loss of Monde for many, many years to come."
We at Vodacom extend our most sincere condolences to Monde's family and friends, and also our gratitude for the blessing of having known him and worked with him.
The funeral for Mr Monde Mama will take place on the morning of Saturday, 15 September 2007, at his family home in Zwelitsha, near King William's Town.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Tuesday, 11 September, at Vodacom in Midrand, Johannesburg
