Cointel is consolidating its services to strengthen its position as South Africa`s largest telecommunications value added service provider, making itself an even more self-reliant revenue generating machine. Cointel boasts over 1 million monthly users and over R700-million in revenue with an astounding 500% growth rate over a three year period.

ICASA recently awarded Cointel a Value Added Network Service (VANS) license. They had formerly been operating under Telkom and Vodacom`s VANS licenses, but required network independence. "We are continuously striving to place Cointel in a position of self-reliance and excellence. In line with this objective, we are also in the process of applying for ISO certification 9001 standards recognition. This is necessary for the success of Cointel`s long-term plan towards global expansion," explains Cointel MD Ahmed Ayob.

VANS enhance telecommunications services delivered by networks through data delivery. They can also boost revenue streams by offering additional services to users in order to meet the need for increased mobility and flexibility.

Cointel`s value added services include their world first Autocharge technology, which is a mobile commerce banking solution; SMS solutions including Intelligent, Auto, Interactive and SMS to e-mail solutions; competition and information lines for the cellular industry; and an interactive voice response solution.

"The services we create need to be available and acceptable to everyone. Offering turnkey solutions is our specialty, by creating and using technology that offers our customers flexibility and ease-of-use. Therefore, streamlining our business operation in order to make it easier for us to accomplish our goals is an integral part of our plan for success," he concludes.
