With all the hype around Bluetooth connectivity and a wireless environment, the Toshiba Bluetooth PC Card may be the answer to the wireless office. With the release of the Toshiba Bluetooth PC Card through Siltek Group's leading broad-based IT distribution arm SDD, the Bluetooth PC Card offers the users the opportunity to connect up to seven different devices simultaneously.
Andre Rossouw, product manager for Toshiba at SDD, says Bluetooth technology redefines short distance wireless communication. "With the aid of a tiny radio module using the 2.4GHz short wave (ISM) band, which is freely accessible worldwide, Bluetooth allows devices to communicate with minimum hassle," he says.
The Toshiba Bluetooth PC Card is a type 2 card with a transmission range of up to 100 metres. The PC Card is compatible with any notebook featuring a Type 2 PC Card slot and is compatible with Windows 98 SE/ME with support for other operating systems available shortly.
SPANworks software bundled with the card consists of four applications, namely File Utilities, Presentation Sharing, Contacts and Chat. The software allows for effortless transferring of files through the familiar Windows drag and drop feature. "Users will also be able to synchronise data between PDAs, notebooks and PCs, and will be able to send e-mails without having to physically connect their mobiles phones to the notebooks," adds Rossouw.
The Toshiba Bluetooth PC Card is available immediately from SDD and its nationwide network of more than 6 000 resellers.
