Thinkpad 240 slimmest IBM offering yet - from Tarsus Technologies

Johannesburg, 30 Nov 1999

IBM`s slimmest sub-notebook yet, the ThinkPad 240, brings maximum PC power to the mobile professional in a lightweight and compact package. "The ThinkPad 240 is a fully functional Windows 98 machine that is about half the size and weight of other notebooks, yet packs a Celeron 300 procesor and 6,4GB of hard drive space,` says David Futter, general manager for IBM at Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies. "Even though the machine is so small, there is no sacrifice of usability - the typing keys are still 95% of the size of a standard ThinkPad," he adds.

Key Features: IBM ThinkPad 240

  • Mobile Celeron 300Mhz processor

  • 6,4GB Hard Drive

  • 64 MB SDRAM (Up to 192MB)

  • Standard 56K V.90 modem

  • Infrared port

  • Windows 98 pre-installed

  • Parallel and serial ports standard

  • Weighs under 1,3Kg incl. battery

No peripherals are required to print from the ThinkPad 240 - it is equipped as standard with serial and parallel ports, a feature unique to this class of machine. "Perhaps the most stunning feature of this machine is it`s suggested price of just R12 999,00, making it not only one of the smallest notebooks available, but also one of the most affordable," concludes Futter.

The ThinkPad 240 is available from Incredible Connection`s Johannesburg stores or through your local dealer channel.
