IT Wise, the sub-Saharan distributor for Thin Print, today announced the start of collaboration with HP. This co-operation will include equipping all the HP Compaq t5530 and HP Compaq t5135 thin clients with the ThinPrint technology.
In server-based computing networks with remote offices, the voluminous data traffic created by printing often causes bandwidth bottlenecks, high transmission costs, and degraded performance.
To avoid these problems, many businesses deploy the print management solution, ThinPrint .print. Labelled with the prestigious Citrix Ready logo, the software solution compresses print data to down to 1% of its original size and features sophisticated technology for connection-based bandwidth control to secure the network connectivity of the remote offices.
Integration of the ThinPrint technology in HP thin clients allows companies the advantages of the ThinPrint .print print management solution directly and without the detour of adding further hardware solutions.
Both the Windows CE-based thin client HP Compaq t5530 and the Linux-based thin client HP Compaq t5135 can use the ThinPrint technologies for compression and bandwidth control. Moreover, both devices can use driver free native printing, which resolves driver issues on the terminal server.
For the Windows CE-based devices exists a .print client that supports the RDP and ICA protocol. Therefore, the print data can also be sent through the virtual channel. When print servers are in use, data is normally printed via TCP/IP.
If the remote offices are in a masked network, though, the print jobs cannot be delivered. With the integrated .print Client, the HP thin client is now able to receive print data despite network masking and, moreover, to decrypt SSL print data encrypted by the .print Server Engine.
The HP Compaq t5530 and HP Compaq t5135 thin clients are already available. For HP's market-leading t5720 customers, they can use the Windows XP Pro .print client. Integration of the .print Client into other thin clients by HP is in preparation.
"We are very pleased about this co-operation," commented Bernd Hausmann, Director Consulting Services at ThinPrint, and responsible for strategic partnerships with hardware manufacturers. "In HP, we have found a strong international partner who covers all infrastructure needs from the server all the way to the thin client."
"Although remote client solutions such as Citrix Presentation Server, HP's Consolidated Client Infrastructure and HP's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, can save customers time, effort and money compared to traditional PC deployments, printing often presents a problem," added Greg Schmidt, lead Product Marketing Manager for HP Thin Clients.
"The ThinPrint technology dramatically enhances the printing experience for remote client computing, making HP thin clients that much easier to deploy and manage."
