Third Data Warehouse Forum focuses on spatial data

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2002

Robin Wagner, sales manager for customer insight company Knowledge Factory, is to be the keynote speaker at the third Data Warehouse Forum run by Integration Dynamics (KID). Wagner will speak on the importance of geocoding and spatially enabling data warehouses.

The forum will take place at Ascential Software`s Rivonia offices at 3pm on 15 August.

"Most data warehouses are missing one vital dimension," says Wagner. "That is where customers live and conduct their business. The ability to visualise where customers and prospective customers live, transact and interact allows a company to generate a view of like-minded people. This increases the likelihood of a marketing campaign`s success, boosts the chances of CRM success and provides insights that are not obvious otherwise."

Knowledge Factory, a company in the JSE Securities Exchange-listed Primedia group, is the country`s leading provider of spatially enabled data solutions. However, Wagner will not discuss specific products, as the forum is product-agnostic in its approach. This philosophy has ensured that the forum has become a rallying point for all vendors, customers and other interested parties.

"We have been encouraged by attendances at the first two forums," says Paul van der Merwe, director at KID. "We topped 50 at the second forum, held at Discovery Health in Sandton, and as word spreads of the value to be obtained for participants at this forum, we expect the numbers to grow rapidly. Regrettably, seating is always limited, so we need to cut off at a certain point, and we urge all interested people to book as soon as possible."

* The third Data Warehousing Forum will take place at Ascential Software, Block II, Tuscany Office Park, Coombe Place, Rivonia at 3pm on 15 August. RSVP: Paul van der Merwe paul@kid.co.za or 082 454 7965.

* The fourth Data Warehousing Forum will feature Dick Brummer, IT architect at Telkom. He will speak in the importance of quality data in the delivery of data warehouses, drawing on Telkom`s experience.
