Local IT company, iNathi Technology Holdings, has recently implemented SysCare, a clinic management system, at several clinics in the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality.
The feedback from the clinics thus far has been positive and through proper change management by iNathi, the system has been completely accepted and welcomed by end-users.
The implementation thereof has dramatically increased the number of patients that can be attended to on a daily basis by reducing the time spent on manually generating daily and monthly reports. This is achieved through a reporting feature called the Essential Dataset, which allows users to generate clinic statistics at the click of a button where clinics generally have to close their doors at 14:00 in order to generate statistics manually.
The clinic administrators are now able to plan their visits in advance through the use of the system planning schedule thus enabling the administrators to draw patient files a day in advance, allowing them to avoid the rush and client pile-up on the day.
This has increased the flow of patients in and out of the clinic. From the nurses` point of view, the system allows them to get through their patient examinations efficiently and effectively by ensuring that all aspects of the examination are attended to (the system includes a primary health care schedule for health workers to follow). This leaves less room for error in patient examinations while simultaneously ensuring that examinations are conducted in a timely manner.
The solution was completely developed from an end-user`s perspective. The approach used was getting primary healthcare workers involved in the development of the system to ensure the system provides healthcare workers with a user-friendly, effective solution. SysCare provides an accurate measure for service quality as well as control over services provided.
One of the greatest focus points and challenges in the development of SysCare was to shorten time spent on data capturing and delivering accurate statistics for clinics in order to provide information on which managerial decisions can be based. SysCare ensures operation time in clinics is spent on the essential, which is to provide patients with healthcare. Generating clinic reports and statistics can now be done at the click of a button.
