"The New Faces semi-finalists have been chosen and now we need the public`s online votes to get to the final shakedown to be held in Cape Town at the end of September. Using the Tiscali portal as a media carrier has meant opening up the New Faces model search to a far broader audience," says Evan Milton, Chief Editor of the Tiscali portal.
While the lucky "New Face" winner will receive top model status with great prizes, the voting public can win weekly sponsor hampers as well as exclusive weekends away when they choose the "Tiscali Face of the Week" from the New Faces semi-finalists. The competition can be entered online via the Tiscali fashion channel at www.tiscali.co.za/fashion.
Tiscali is also adding another dimension to the New Faces model search. "New Faces South Africa wanted to involve the public even more in choosing the top models, and Tiscali was able to leverage the wide reach of SA`s booming cellular market by enabling an SMS voting mechanism," says Milton.
Public votes will be tallied along with those of the judges to determine the overall New Face winner. Simply SMS the name or number of the contestant you would like to see win to 35400. People voting will be automatically entered into a draw for two R20 000 weekends away, one for voting for the each of the male and female winners. Pictures and names of the all semi-finalists can also be viewed on the Tiscali fashion channel.
"We offer various solutions to enable mobile and SMS competitions of this nature, and it was a simple matter of customising an SMS voting line so that everyone in SA can assist in choosing the New Face."
The contest, originally devised as an online-only model search, has so far seen unprecedented success. Using the Internet as the preferred medium has more than delivered the goods, surprising even the organisers with the high level of interactive public participation.
