Tiscali World Online is hosting international business consultant and author Paddy Miller in SA where he will discuss mission-critical leadership and present a new framework for traditional economy managers wanting to lead their evolving organisations.
Miller`s focus is on adapting organisations so that they can think, act and evolve faster than their competitors.
"One of the key aspects of our strategy is to add value to our subscriber base and over the last year we have been running events every month with speakers who can help people in their businesses," says Graeme Victor, MD of Tiscali World Online.
"A large portion of our base is made up of business people who are not exposed to the infrastructure of big corporations and this is an opportunity for them to learn more about running a business."
Tiscali World Online has found that a number of its subscribers are SME customers searching for ways to improve their business and, by exposing them to consultants such as Miller, Tiscali World Online is providing a value-added service that helps them develop their business knowledge and apply it in their companies.
Miller, a published author, seeks to address:
* Dealing with new and rapidly shifting business models;
* A broad range of case studies such as Compaq, Ikea, BT and British Airways;
* Coping with teams that are geographically dispersed; and
* Suggesting new ways of understanding team dynamics.
Miller is an associate professor of organisational behaviour at the IESE Business School in Spain. His interests lie in leadership and change management. He recently focused on issues of leading change in multinational organisations during the transition to globalisation.
Companies and organisations that have used his services include Bulgari in Italy, IBM and Volkswagen in Germany, Caterpillar in Spain and the United Nations and HP. Apart from addressing management groups, he has worked directly with CEOs and their management teams in Europe, Africa and North and South America.
Miller recently authored Mission Critical Leadership, written and researched while serving as a visiting professor at the Harvard Business School. He has also co-authored and contributed to several other books and articles. One of those is Management in South Africa, with Roomer and Staude, a prescribed text in many local universities. His most recent contributions have been to Managing People Across Europe by David Rees and Managing Change in Europe by Professor Christiaan Scholz.
Miller will present at the Indaba Hotel on Monday, 9 September.
