Titus Labs, a leading provider of e-mail and document classification software, today announced the release of Titus Labs Message Classification (TMC) Web Access 2.0.
The industry's most advanced classification solution for Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) now enables organisations to enforce e-mail labelling policies, protect against data leakage, and make users accountable for proper information handling when using OWA.
An increasing number of organisations enable employees to access e-mail from remote locations through standard Web browsers. Providing mobile access to e-mail makes organisations more vulnerable to data leakage as security and classification policies are rarely enforced outside the perimeter of the organisation.
For any organisation, including government, military and large enterprises, Message Classification Web Access 2.0 provides advanced capabilities for IT administrators to control exactly what e-mails and documents may be viewed over Web mail.
“As with most organisation, a great number of e-mails are sensitive in nature, and many users are in the field, which makes Web mail an important tool,” says Sean Glansbeek, MD of Seven Days Technologies. “The ability to control what is viewed outside the firewall and ensuring organisations classification schema is applied regardless of a user's physical location enables organisations to mitigate the risk of inappropriate behaviour. Titus Labs' solution is easy to deploy across networks and little if no user training is required.”
Product enhancements in TMC OWA 2.0:
* Calendar and task support: Users can now classify meeting requests and tasks. IT administrators can force users to select a classification or they can provide a default classification value.
* Warning dialogue: The software can display a warning when a particular classification is selected. For example, an organization may wish to display a warning when a user selects a classification of 'RELEASABLE TO INTERNET'. The warning dialogue text is completely customisable.
* OWA Prevent: The OWA Prevent feature is an optional setting that prevents users from viewing confidential messages or e-mails with attachments when using OWA.
* Customisable help: This "Help" button can link to an HTML page describing the organisation's classification policies.
* Advanced message body labelling: Organisations can now build custom body labels that include variables such as the classification and the date; for example, the body label could read: “This message has been classified as INTERNAL USE ONLY by XYZ Corp. on 20 Jun 09.”
“Ensuring messages are handled appropriately outside of the organisation's firewall continues to be a major challenge because organisations rarely have control over how users access or handle information via a standard Web browser,” said Charlie Pulfer, VP Product Development, Titus Labs. “The compliance and security issues associated with inappropriate use of information or data leakage mean that organisations must take appropriate steps to ensure the security of e-mail accessed via Web browsers. With Titus Labs Message Classification Web Access, organisations can have confidence that they are extending existing e-mail security policies to all communications regardless of the user's physical location.”
