Top experts to talk at IT Governance Africa 2009

Johannesburg, 25 May 2009

International IT governance experts Dr Bruno Wildhaber and Drs Harry Boonen will address local businessmen on IT governance concerns and trends during the IT Governance Africa 2009 conference to be held in Sandton from 22 to 24 June 2009.

Now in its third year, the IT Governance Africa conference is South Africa's foremost IT governance event covering issues specific to IT governance. The 2009 conference programme includes topics relevant to the economic downturn.

Companies with good IT governance in place are much more capable of responding to these difficult times. Delegates will be able to choose from a wide range of topics presented by international and local speakers.

Info Sec Africa says frameworks like CobiT and ITIL are very useful to management interested in better governing information technology. Most organisations currently use these frameworks in a limited manner. Few go beyond the most basic understanding of the process descriptions and examination of controls. At IT Governance Africa, delegates can expect to find out more about the full value of these frameworks and learn how to apply them in a practical manner.

Dr Bruno Wildhaber is the author of a number of books on IT governance and records management. He is highly regarded as an international expert on records management and currently heads a major international records management initiative for a leading Swiss financial institution.

Drs Harry Boonen is the author of the popular IT Governance Pocket Guide published by Van Haren and used widely by companies across South Africa. Drs Boonen's expertise includes the management of outsourced services and project management.

Simon Liell-Cock, a local lean IT specialist, will present papers about effectively managing IT and measuring IT maturity using ISO 15504 - the international standard for assessment of process maturity. Also presenting papers at IT Governance Africa 2009 is Julio Graham, an IT governance specialist focusing on green IT.
