Top Layer Security, a global provider of network intrusion prevention systems (IPS), has announced that it has received the coveted 2009 Red Herring 100 Award, which was revealed at the Red Herring awards ceremony held in San Diego recently. Over a six-month period, the Red Herring editorial judges sifted through thousands of applicants to discover and advocate the most promising private technology companies that will lead the next wave of disruption and innovation.

The selection of the Red Herring 100 winners is a mark of distinction and high honour, with past winners including Google, Yahoo, Skype, Netscape, Salesforce.com and YouTube. The Red Herring editorial team assessed nominees based on their financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management and execution of strategy. The CEOs from the 200 finalists were then invited to present to the Red Herring editorial team over two days in May, after which the top 100 companies were announced.
