Top sport stars benefit from personalised nutritional solutions

By The Innovation Hub
Johannesburg, 14 Sept 2005

Top South African sports stars, including track athlete Geraldine Pillay, are benefiting from innovative health promoting nutritional analyses developed by a local nutrition company to identify and treat cellular dysfunction through a personalised rehabilitation programme with nutritional supplements.

Newly resident in the Enterprise Building at The Innovation Hub, Custom Nutrition Technologies (CNT), is working closely with the universities of Pretoria and Potchefstroom to offer clients targeted scientific analyses and assessments that result in highly personalised nutritional solutions. Its product range is directed at rectifying dysfunctions ranging from chronic fatigue and pH imbalances to learning disabilities.

The company's expertise includes competencies in biochemistry, biotechnology, physical training and biomedical technology. Its innovative approach to nutrition solutions has led to the development of the Ultimate Performance supplement, which provides energy far beyond that of traditional supplements on the market. Its special formulation allows for a longer lasting effect, providing users with more sustainable energy levels.

According to CNT's Medical Technologist, Jacques Theron, the body of intellectual property that has resulted from the company's dedicated research and scientific focus is a major factor that will support its expansion into new markets.

"Our advantage lies in the fact that nobody else is doing what we are doing," he says.

CNT Operations Director, James Lehmann, indicates that one of the benefits of being located at the Hub is access through the Hub's global network to businesses abroad that may enable the company to also access global markets with its world-class offerings.
