Johannesburg, 10 Oct 2000

Toshiba achieved No. 1 position in the overall global notebook market in 1999 with a market share of 16.4% and clinched the No.1 position again for the first and second quarters of 2000, according to the information technology market research firm, International Corporation (IDC).

According to Sean Sheedy, business unit manager for Toshiba at Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD), SDD was appointed as the sole distributor of the Toshiba Notebook range in South Africa recently and the results of the research reflects their commitment to providing world class technology for all its customers. "We are extremely pleased with Toshiba's tremendous growth and this confirms what we have been hearing from our customers. Companies want high quality and services from a company they trust", he adds

Sheedy concludes that as the largest IT distributor in South Africa and with its cutting edge technology and systems Toshiba is poised to continue to lead the industry.
