Computrolley.com has been appointed as the sole local distributor for Toshiba notebook drives and optical storage devices. According to Simon Campbell-Young, MD of Computrolley.com, the company aims to grow Toshiba`s market share with a dedicated focus on the brand.
"Computrolley.com functions as an exclusive distributor rather than a broad-base distributor. This places us in a position to provide the value-add that the channel requires in terms of service."
David Whitmarsh, sales manager for Toshiba: UK, Nordics and SA, says, given the recent upsets in the South African distribution market, Toshiba seeked a distributor familiar with the local market, while possessing the relevant product and distribution expertise. "South Africa is a key market for us and presents significant growth potential. In Computrolley.com, we found a company that is enthusiastic and professional, with an in-depth knowledge of the Toshiba brand."
To add to the Computrolley.com knowledge pool, Campbell-Young has appointed Dean Black, PhotoNote MD, to the company`s board. Black has been involved with the Toshiba brand for the past twelve years and believes its drives to be the most reliable in the local market. "PhotoNote has acted as Toshiba notebook distributor for a substantial time now and our experience with this company has been a very positive one. It is a solid brand and its drives have the lowest failure rate in the world."
Computrolley.com national product manager, Gary Naidoo, agrees, adding that Toshiba has a clear customer focus and is committed to producing the highest quality products through world class engineering and manufacturing.
Black regards Computrolley.com`s service policy as key to its channel strategy. "Most distributors grow too fast, and essentials, such as service, tend to fall by the wayside. Computrolley.com will continue to focus on the aspects that are truly important in this industry, namely product, price and service. By servicing products in-house we are deepening our commitment to both the channel and the end user."
According to Campbell-Young, they are scouting the market for a sub-distributor and are currently in discussion with key companies to select the right partner.
