Toshiba will soon add three new high-density flash memory cards to its product line-up - including one it touts as the world's first 32GB flash card, according to eWeek.

The company also announced a 16GB SDHC card and an 8GB microSDHC card.

Flash memory products are used for general solid-state storage, image file storage and audio for solid-state disk drives, cameras, audio appliances, set-top boxes and industrial storage.

Survey shows storage crisis

The Storage Industry Association (SNIA) claims the industry is on the verge of a crisis, explains InfoStor.

According to a recent SNIA survey of archive practitioners, long-term -retention technologies and practices are not up to scratch and digital information is in serious jeopardy of being lost over time.

The survey, dubbed the SNIA 100 Year Archive Requirements Survey Report, revealed that 80% of respondents have information they must keep for more than 50 years, and 68% of respondents say they must keep some types of data for more than 100 years.

EMC receives storage awards

EMC captured CMP Channel's Network Storage and Storage Management Software category awards, according to CNN Money.com.

The EMC Velocity2 Partner Program, which supports EMC's channel strategy, is focused on developing a balanced portfolio of motivated, loyal and self-sufficient partners.

"EMC is excited and honoured to receive the highest ranking in the VARBusiness ARC Awards for the two categories we competed in. Since the VARBusiness ARC Awards are based on partner feedback, these two awards validate the important changes we have made to the Velocity Partner Program," said EMC's Mitch Breen, senior VP of Global Channel Strategy and Sales.
