Local Toshiba distributor, Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD), has announced the Port'eg'e 3110CT notebook computer, an ultra-portable solution powered by an Intel 300PE (Performance Enhancements) Mobile Pentium II processor.

The new notebook comes with 64MB of high-speed Synchronous DRAM as standard, expandable to 128MB, and includes a 10.4-inch TFT colour display as well as 6.0GB hard drive capacity.

"This notebook makes use of USB connectivity for peripheral devices; offers an internal 32-bit system bus architecture, and a 4Mbps FIR-compliant infrared port for connectivity. The Trident graphics controller provides full-screen motion video capabilities with low power consumption," says Sean Sheedy, product manager at SDD.

The Port'eg'e also includes a PCI audio solutions that brings integrated 16-bit, 3D sound and a FM Synthesis supported SoundBlaster Pro compatible sound system.

Expandability options include one PC Card slot (Type II) and an external floppy disk drive kit and I/O adapter.

"Total system management is assured through DMI (Desktop Management Interface), a framework for managing PCs and network servers that is independent of operating system protocols," says Sheedy.

ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is also incorporated and uses integrated OnNow technology that interfaces directly with the operating system to manage all aspects of power management and connected devices.

"Weighing in at 1.42kg and at 22.5mm high, including the battery pack and the 10.4-inch display, the Port'eg'e is Toshiba's ideal 'go-everywhere' notebook solution," he concludes.
