Toshiba`s new Satellite M70: Advanced 3G/UMTS connectivity

Johannesburg, 24 Jan 2006

Toshiba`s Computer Systems Division has announced the launch of the latest addition to its well-known Satellite series of notebook PCs, the Satellite M70.

Distributed to South African users by Rectron, the 15.4-inch widescreen Satellite M70 is the first Toshiba consumer notebook to support 3G/UMTS connectivity thanks to Toshiba`s ConfigFree connectivity software.

This technology enables professionals to identify, connect to, and manage 3G/UMTS network connections. In addition to rapid information access, the notebook PC is equipped with the latest multimedia `instant on` technology through ExpressMediaPlayer.

The mist grey Satellite M70, with a new case design, presents the user with a diverse choice of connectivity options to aid fluid workflow in all locations.

In addition to automatic switching between wired LAN, WLAN and 3G/UMTS connections users can also access information via Bluetooth or a V.92 modem.

Sharing data and connecting to other devices is made simple as the notebook has three USB ports: a TV-out, PC Card, 5-in-1 Bridge Media slots and an Express Card slot.

"The Satellite M70 is ideal for client presentations or personal entertainment while travelling, or when presentation videos and music need to be quickly accessed and managed without booting the operating system," says Andr'e Rossouw, Toshiba product manager at Rectron.

Harman/Kardon speakers create virtual surround sound and have also been innovatively added to the front of the notebook PC so that music can be listened to with the notebook closed.

Additionally, the Satellite M70 is equipped with the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology and unshared memory graphics capability through the ATI Mobility RADEON X700 graphics card, ensuring smooth presentations and workflow.

With DVD SuperMulti drive, information can be quickly shared either through reading from, or writing content to, CDs and DVDs.
