ToutVirtual, Symantec ink deal

ToutVirtual, a company specialising in software for virtual computing infrastructures, has signed an OEM agreement with Symantec which will see the company add Symantec's Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) solution to its VirtualIQ suite of products, says Trading Markets.

The company said the combination of the VirtualIQ suite of products with BESR will allow it to offer business continuity solutions using virtualisation that can reduce downtime in the event of a failure.

BESR will be included in the next release of ToutVirtual's VirtualIQ Pro, a management and automation suite designed to support customers in virtualisation deployment, from planning to the deployment of virtual server rooms running large numbers of virtual machines.

To provide secure office space to displaced employees during disaster events, ColoHouse recently opened its Business Continuity Wing and is now offering its new Business Continuity Workforce Recovery service to customers, states TMCnet.

Located in downtown Miami, ColoHouse offers guaranteed or on-demand per seat packages providing secure office space for displaced employees.

In the past, workforce stoppage has occurred due to hurricane, fire, or power outages. While many companies include colocation as part of their disaster recovery plan, ColoHouse says its full service approach allows customers to not only keep data safe, but continue operations.
