Trading hub partners local BEE company

Johannesburg, 24 Mar 2004

International electronic trading hub, TradeWorld, has chosen local ICT company e.com institute to implement a () solution using Business Objects.

TradeWorld maintains a database of suppliers and products for various provincial departments and organisations, but saw a need for a BI solution when it was asked for a reporting and analytic capability.

Hannes van der Merwe, TradeWorld IT manager, says the company needed a BI solution that would allow real-time Web access on a push or pull basis at a central point to all information residing on the database.

"The Business Objects solution fits perfectly into the TradeWorld trading portal," says Cassim Parak, e.com MD, "providing ad hoc query and reporting services that can profile the volumes and financial value of procurement from particular sectors and suppliers, and on products."

"TradeWorld considered various BI solutions before deciding on a partnership with e.com institute around Business Objects," says Van der Merwe. "While we needed a BI solution, we also needed a partner like e.com institute that understood the business issues at hand."

Parak says e.com was able to offer a clear understanding of the nature and complexity of TradeWorld`s client base.

Parak says e.com is excited about the opportunity presented by this new partnership. "As TradeWorld expands, so too will e.com`s opportunities to add greater levels of value to TradeWorld and its customers."

He adds that the business benefits of BI have never been more immediate and compelling for all organisations wishing to gain control of their business landscape.
