Travel chaos drives video conferencing
Polycom says the use of video conferencing and telepresence solutions has been heightened due to the flight disruptions caused by the Iceland volcano ash over the EU, says MarketWatch.
Polycom's customer Regus operates a network of 2 500 publicly available video conferencing rooms and a growing list of telepresence suites. The companies recorded a 108% increase in the UK and an 18% increase in the EU.
Regus is expecting further high levels of enquiries for video communications as organisations strive to maintain international business communication during the ongoing aviation crisis.

Ipanema releases hybrid network solution
Ipanema Technologies has released a Hybrid Network Unification solution, states Benzinga.
The automated solution uses an intelligent monitor to control, accelerate and select the best path for user traffic in real-time. The solution can provide up to 99.99% branch availability, with a 50% to 80% decrease in costs per transferred GB.
“Enterprises need perfect application performance and non-stop business continuity, and they need to lower their IT costs at the same time. In the past, there were constant - and painful - choices among performance, continuity and cost,” says Reza Mahdavi, president of Ipanema Technologies. “Companies can run any-to-any networks that operate as one.”
