Trend Micro appoints AxizWorkgroup's Advanced Technology as new local distributor

Global security software vendor Trend Micro is pleased to announce the appointment of AxizWorkgroup as its newest distributor within the South African region.

The appointment comes on the back of the vendor's stated intention to grow its South African and African channel, further cultivate and develop its market share, as well as drive awareness of its product offerings throughout the continent.

The Advanced Technology unit is officially launching its specialist security distribution practice on Thursday 22 August 2013 within AxizWorkgroup. The business practice aims to provide resellers and members of the local channel access to all of the services they would expect from a value-added distributor, while also providing them with a range of leading global security specialist products.

"We are delighted to have been appointed by Trend Micro as their newest distributor in the region," says Jacques Malherbe, executive at Advanced Technology.

"We believe that our unique mix of value-added distribution, the investment we have already placed into growing our skills around its solutions, and the fact that Advanced Technology views Trend Micro as a key and pivotal vendor to our technology stack, will assist in growing its local channel as well as create the awareness and traction in the market the Trend products deserve."

According to Malherbe, Advanced Technology's approach will be to ensure that Trend Micro resellers are equipped with the services from their distributor needed to aggressively drive the technology into their customers. These services include technical resources, training and support, as well as the assurance that they have partnered with a distributor that is true to its channel and will only look to grow the market through its partners.

"The South African and African markets are a key growth area for Trend Micro, and it is against this backdrop that we felt the need to open up our channel with the appointment of a new distributor," states Gregory Anderson, country manager for South Africa at Trend Micro. "We believe that the Advanced Technology team brings the right mix of management experience, know-how and the right attitude needed to grow our channel in the region.

"The business has already made a significant investment into skills development around the Trend Micro solutions within the end-user as well as enterprise, virtualisation and cloud space, and we look forward to working with them into the future," adds Anderson.

Today, Trend Micro is a global leader in cloud security and develops Internet content security and threat management solutions that make the world safe for businesses and consumers to exchange digital information. Boasting more than 25 years of experience, the company is recognised as the market leader in server security for delivering top-ranked client, server, and cloud-based security solutions that stop threats faster and protect data in physical, virtualised and cloud environments.

The agreement comes into effect as of 22 August 2013 on the date of the Advanced Technology Security Practice launch.
