
Trend Micro South Africa has appointed Gregory Abreu as regional account manager for South Africa.
Trend Micro says in this new position Abreu will be responsible for increasing revenue and market share in all of South Africa - aside from the coastal regions - in specific sectors ranging from finance to manufacturing.
He will also be assisting organisations in their efforts to protect themselves against modern cyber threats by introducing them to Trend Micro's products and solutions, it adds.
Abreu says his main focus will be to increase the awareness of Trend Micro solutions in unchartered markets - making organisations aware of the company's strengths in infrastructure.
His immediate goal is to increase the awareness of Trend Micro's best of breed technologies in the IT security market.
In the long term, Abreu wants to drive the adoption of technologies that streamline business processes and secure organisations in every vertical.
As a result this will ensure organisations are able to protect themselves from existing threats as well as advanced persistent threats, he adds.
There is an opportunity for Trend Micro in the South African market to help businesses adopt technologies that produce a significant return on investment even with the volatility of the exchange rate and the uncertainty of the economy, says Abreu.
Organisations in SA are trying to deliver exceptional services with minimal resources in an environment that is ever changing, he adds.
Abreu joins the company from his position as a senior security sales specialist for Dimension Data and has been working in sales and business management since 2004, says Trend Micro.
His expertise lies in analysing a customer's business requirements and recommending products to satisfy these needs through the demonstration of features, advantages and benefits of the company's offerings, it adds.
