Secure Data, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the southern African distributor for Trend security software, today announced support for IBM Lotus Domino 6.5.
Trend Micro ScanMail for Lotus Notes version 2.6, is an integrated native Lotus Domino anti-virus and content security product designed to significantly improve customers' ability to thwart viruses, worms and other malicious content.
The product can block or remove unwanted/unsolicited e-mails before they enter the corporate network, even before the virus signatures are positively identified using Trend Micro's Enterprise Protection Strategy.
ScanMail version 2.6 extends Trend Micro's Domino 6.5 support for the Microsoft Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms, and is available today for customers running Domino 6.5. Support for the AIX, AS400 and S390 for Domino 6.5 on ScanMail will be available shortly.
"Lotus Notes and Domino 6.5 continues the IBM tradition of offering unmatched security and we're happy that Trend Micro joins us in enhancing customers' messaging and collaboration environment," commented Ken Bisconti, Vice-President, Lotus Workplace Products, IBM Lotus Software. "Security will play a vital role in our Workplace strategy and Trend Micro with ScanMail will offer our customers even more value."
ScanMail can filter out unwanted e-mail traffic using customisable policies/rules to assess the content of inbound and outbound e-mail messages. ScanMail for Lotus Notes version 2.6 continues support of Trend Micro's Enterprise Protection Strategy, which provides IT administrators with timely, expert policies that can be quickly deployed to help prevent the spread of today's blended threats such as NIMDA and SOBIG, even before a pattern file is available. EPS helps minimise the impact of virus outbreaks in enterprise networks and allows corporations to continue operation with minimal downtime or impact to their business.
"Trend Micro's messaging products scan for malicious content and block unsolicited e-mails from entering enterprise networks to ensure business continuity for mutual customers of IBM and Trend Micro; we provide more comprehensive platforms support than any other anti-virus vendor in the market today and are the only vendor now delivering dynamically created policies specifically designed for outbreak prevention in every product," added Richard Ku, Product Group Manager, Client-Server Messaging at Trend Micro.
