SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the southern African distributor for Trend security software, today announced that the latter has been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for 2004.
Trend Micro is the only major anti-virus and security provider to be included in this year's World Index, which includes over 300 companies from 24 countries and represents the top 10% of the leading sustainable companies.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies around the world. According to SAM Group (Sustainable Asset Management) - the partner of Dow Jones Indexes for these benchmarks - the annual review is based on a thorough assessment of companies' economic performance, and environmental and social responsibility. These assessments also highlight recent activity trends by corporations to help sustain their business.
Organisations included in the indexes are assessed based on criteria such as corporate governance, customer relationship management, strategic planning, risk and crisis management, and talent retention. These and other factors collectively suggest the quality of a company's overall financial health, stability and long-term value for shareholders.
"Trend Micro is very proud to be recognised among the leading companies in the world," commented Mahendra Negi, Chief Financial Officer for Trend Micro Inc.
"We have always strived to continuously grow our value to customers and shareholders not only through our technological innovations, but through the responsible management of our business resources and development of forward-thinking strategies."
Since its establishment in 1988, Trend Micro has introduced anti-virus products, services and technologies that have helped shape the current methodologies of computing security. Today, Trend Micro focuses on outbreak prevention and on providing customers with a comprehensive approach to managing the outbreak lifecycle and the impact of network worms and virus threats to productivity and information, through such initiatives as Trend Micro Enterprise Protection Strategy.
Trend Micro has been recognised by Frost and Sullivan, Accenture and Commonwealth Magazine, Forbes magazine, received the Porter Prize in 2003, and maintains close working relationships with leading industry providers like Cisco Systems. Trend Micro leads the server-based anti-virus market including leading shares for products at the Internet gateway, mail server and file server, according to IDC (August 2004). The company's consumer products have also received accolades from CNET and PC World.
By the close of 2003, Trend Micro had grown to a 48.09 billion yen (or $454 million at an exchange rate of JPY106/1US$) company. The company employs over 2 000 people and has operations and representation in over 30 countries around the world.
